Malcolm Arnold Academy Post-16 Course Update

AFC Rushden & Diamonds are proud to offer a football pathway for players from the age of 5 to the first team and beyond.

We are pleased to continue our partnership with Malcolm Arnold Academy in Northampton, offering post-16 education alongside a dedicated football development programme. The scholarship programme runs alongside the usual post-16 academic studies and the fantastic training facilities include expert coaching from former Premier League star, Darren Purse, and opportunities to gain FA qualifications.

Having won the English Colleges Football Association’s East Midlands League and the Dale Roberts Memorial Cup last season, the MAA/AFCR&D U18 team now play in the Football Conference Youth Alliance and are enjoying a successful season both on, and off, the pitch so far.

The team is currently 3rd in their league and has seen several players graduate to play, and score, for the U21s and the 1st team. The experience of senior men’s football has been invaluable to their football development.

The academic offering includes ‘A’ levels and we are very proud that, amongst several students receiving University place offers, Jacob Kearney has recently been offered a place at Oxford University for September 2016. Jacob said “I am delighted with the education and football coaching I have received at MAA. The support and advice I have been given have helped me achieve my full potential both in the classroom and on the football pitch.”

Malcolm Arnold Academy is holding an open evening for current year 11 students who are interested in the post-16 scholarship scheme on Thursday, January 28th from 7pm with football trials being held on Sunday, February 7th 2016 – see here for details.
