Diamonds travel to play on an artificial surface for the 2nd week running as they make their way to friends Barwell in Leicestershire.
Last week saw a 2-0 reverse on in-form Rushall Olympic’s excellent artificial surface. Diamonds coped well with the conditions but were beaten by the marginally better side over 90 minutes.
Barwell will be playing a 13th consecutive home game after starting the season with away games whilst the new pitch was laid. They sit in 12th place with 33 points from 30 games after some really up and down performances. They conceded 16 goals in 7 games including 5 to St. Ives in a nine goal thriller, 3 to Needham Market and 4 to Lowestoft Town in further defeats. They have really turned it round defensively though in an unbeaten run of 4 with just 1 conceded in the last 3.
Diamonds have 4 wins in 6 this year with the two defeats to table toppers Banbury and 3rd placed Rushall Olympic. 4 of the last 5 games have finished 2-0 with the 5th the 2-1 win at Alvechurch.
Barwell won the reverse fixture at Hayden Road 1-0 in October but Diamonds will be confident they can get motivated for another big away performance. They managed that at Alvechurch in January who had also won at Hayden Road in that tricky October run.
Will Jones will be full of confidence after notching an added time winner on Tuesday in the NFA Hillier Senior Cup Semi-Final and AJ George will be excited by his first Diamonds goal in the same match.
Radio Diamonds will be in action as ever if you can’t make the game and will be providing your Twitter updates throughout the afternoon.
Enjoy the game.
