Match Preview: Biggleswade Town FC vs AFC Rushden & Diamonds – Tuesday 29th March 7.45 pm KO

Diamonds head to Biggleswade Town tonight for the 35th league game of a busy season looking for a 19th win and an 11th win on the road in 21/22.

7 of those wins have come in 2022 including 4 wins on the road at Alvechurch, Barwell, Lowestoft and on Saturday at Redditch.

We were all so saddened to hear of the passing of Redditch player Thomas Rankin. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all at Redditch United.

It will be a very tough game tonight against a Biggleswade side looking to climb out of the relegation places after climbing off the bottom of the table in recent weeks. A draw against Nuneaton and wins against Bromsgrove and Needham Market had given The Waders hope before a 3-1 reverse against a rejuvenated Stourbridge team at The Carlsberg Stadium on Saturday. Earlier in the season they scored 7 in consecutive home games but no wins in 4 months saw them slip down the table until those recent improved results. The reverse fixture saw a 0-0 draw in October.

Diamonds games have been full of goals in recent weeks with 16 scored in the last 4 games. Diamonds have scored three goals twice in that run but have conceded 2 goals in 3 of those 4 games. Biggleswade have seen 10 goals in their last two games both at home including a 5-1 win and a 3-1 defeat so it’s guaranteed to be a 0-0 draw tonight!!

Diamonds have a healthy position in the play-off positions with a 6 point lead over 6th place Alvechurch with tonight being their game in hand. 10 points will guarantee a play-off place but there will be plenty of twists and turns in our attempts to get the points we need.

Andy Burgess will have Diamonds fired up to keep the pressure on all their opponents on the run-in including tonight at Biggleswade. It should be a cracker with a good away following but if you can’t make the game Joseph and the Radio Diamonds team will be live from 7.30 to bring you all the action.

Enjoy the game.
