Diamonds are on the road again this Saturday afternoon as they travel to old friends Royston Town in Southern League action.
Diamonds enjoyed a famous night at Garden Walk back in 2016 winning a dramatic play-off semi-final against fancied opposition in front of ecstatic travelling fans having lost at the same ground just a month before.
Royston Town FC
Royston “The Crows” have existed since 1875 playing in Hertfordshire Leagues until joining the South Midland League in 1978. After a brief period in the Isthmian League promotion to Southern League status was achieved in 2012 and Step 3 in 2017.
Current Form
The two sides sit in 7th and 8th just a point apart with Diamonds having won one more game and Royston having drawn two more games.
Royston have mixed form in the last 6 games with 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats. 7 goals have been scored in those games with 8 conceded but three games were goalless for the Crows and they kept clean sheets.
Diamonds have 4 wins in those same 6 games scoring 9, including in every game, and conceding 7 with 2 clean sheets. Diamonds shade recent form with their run of 6 wins in 8 and have won 4 of their last 5 on the road.
The Game
Diamonds will be looking to avenge a 3-1 defeat to Royston earlier in the season which came in a period of quite poor form. The recent run, particularly away from home, will give them real confidence though that they can win again at Garden Walk.
Radio Diamonds will of course be present to bring you all the action if you can’t make the game along with in match Twitter updates. Match reports and post match interviews are definitely worth looking out for from the Diamonds media team.
Enjoy the game.
