Ladies Manager: Leanne Mayes

 

Leanne Mayes – Joins the club from Earls Barton ladies, where she spent 3 years, in her final year she took over the ladies, helping to develop one of the best ladies teams in the local community, AFC R&D interviewed Leanne to find out why she chose to join the AFC family.

 

Leanne “I’d been a fan of Rushden & Diamonds since I was younger and was devastated along with everyone else when we lost our club, I’ve been working as Earls Barton Manager for 1 year and decided it was time for a new challenge and hearing that AFC was starting to develop a ladies team I jumped at the chance to be a part of a team which is a big part in my heart.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ladies Assistant Manager:  Katie Newman

 

Katie Joins AFC Ladies along with Leanne, Katie has been working alongside Leanne for the previous year as manager to Earls Barton Ladies, but has been involved with Earls Barton girls, coming through the youth system and finally into management over the past 7, Having developed a great working relationship with Leanne, Katie joins Leanne once again as manager to AFC Rushden & Diamonds Ladies, AFC caught up with Katie to ask her how she felt about joining the AFC Family

 

Katie “After so many years at my old club I felt that it was time for a change and luckily Leanne was thinking the same thing. We look forward to bringing both our management styles to this new club and making it successful. We look forward to the up and coming season and hopefully making some history.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ladies 1st Team Coach:  Darren Calverson-Smiles

Darren has been part of the AFC community since almost the very beginning having joined the committee in July last year, After working with the club and the under 17s over the past year, and being fully involved in different roles within the committee Darren now takes on another role within the organisation by becoming the ladies 1st team coach for the up and coming 2012/13 season, AFC caught up with Darren to ask him how he felt about his new role.

Darren “After working with AFC in different roles over the past year I felt it was time to take up another challenge to add to my other roles within the club and after meeting with Leanne and Katie decided id take up the role of first team coach to help not only benefit the AFC family further but to also further my own personal skills in football management and coaching.
