AFC Rushden & Diamonds are delighted to announce the signing of 18-year-old wide player John McHugh ahead of tomorrow’s fixture against Kidsgrove Athletic in the FA Trophy.
A very versatile player equally capable as an attacking player on either side of midfield or the back line, John spent some time with both Sheffield Wednesday and Blackpool as a young player before moving to Tamworth in 2022 as part of their scholarship programme, performing primarily in their reserve team with a smattering of first team involvement last year.
Diamonds Manager Michael Harriman had this to say about his latest addition: “I’m very excited to get John in within the group. He’s a lively young player who is comfortable playing either side. An inspiring winger who enjoys taking players on and driving the team forward, this will be a huge benefit for us moving forward. I’m thrilled to get him available for this weekend and look forward to seeing what he can produce for us this season.”
John is available for selection for Saturday’s fixture away at Kidsgrove Athletic.
