AFC Rushden & Diamonds are delighted to announce the signing of 24-year-old defender Charlie Green from United Counties League Premier Division South Champions Wellingborough Town.
Most at home in the full back position but capable across the back four, Charlie was an almost ever-present for the Doughboys as they secured promotion to Step 4. Manager Michael Harriman commented: “Charlie has been on our radar for a while. He’s good on the ball, strong in the air and joins the Club fresh from a very successful season last year. The Club have fought off stiff competition from elsewhere to secure his signature and we’re thrilled to have him.”
Charlie had this to say: “After speaking with both Michael and Dan it felt clear that there’s a great feeling about the Club right now and it’s something I want to be part of. I came and watched a few games at the back end of last season and it was obvious to see that the tide was turning so I’m excited to see what we can do this year. I’m really grateful for my time at Wellingborough Town and the success we enjoyed there, but I’m looking forward to getting started here at Diamonds and giving the fans something to cheer about.”
