New Signing – Matt Finlay

AFC Rushden & Diamonds are pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Matt Finlay. Matt joins the club from Cogenhoe United.

Matt is 33 years old and played for the Cooks when they visited the Dog & Duck in November 2013. He has been an “ever-present” in goal for the Cooks’ United Counties League games this season.

After playing at Compton Park earlier in his career he rejoined the Cooks in August 2013 after playing in the Northern Premier League Division One South to help Stamford win promotion to step 3 in the 2012-13 season, joining the Daniels from Banbury United. He had previously played for Woodford United, where he was in goal in March 2007, along with Arron Parkinson, when R&DFC defeated Woodford to win the Hillier Senior Cup, as well as helping the Reds win the UCL Premier Division title and then playing for them in the Southern League.  He has also played for Raunds Town, Bedford Town, Daventry Town, Brackley Town, St Neots Town, Wellingborough Town and Oxford City.
