AFC Rushden & Diamonds are pleased to announce the signing of 21-year-old goalkeeper Regan Saunt ahead of the 2023/24 Northern Premier League Midlands Division campaign.
Diamonds fans who have attended this summer’s friendlies will be familiar with Regan, as he has appeared during most of our pre-season matches. Regan was formerly part of our Moulton Scholarship Programme and appeared for the Scholars in their cup final at West Bromwich Albion’s Hawthorns ground back in May, but has now completed his studies.
Regan spent some time with Spartan South Midlands League Division One outfit Langford over recent seasons and has also made some competitive appearances for United Counties League Premier Division South side Histon this summer.
Manager Chris Nunn was keen to add to his goalkeeping options and was pleased to get Regan on board: “I’ve enjoyed working with Regan during pre-season. He’s a good lad which we know is important and he’s bought into the environment we are creating here. I think we’ve got two really good goalkeeping options at the Club now and excellent competition for places both in this position and across the pitch. It’s a headache for me but I’d much rather have these decisions to make than have the starting eleven pick itself.”
Regan will be available for selection for this weekend’s first league game of the season, at home to Sporting Khalsa on Saturday 12th August.
