Newport Pagnell Town v AFC Rushden & Diamonds

After their disappointment on Saturday, AFC Rushden & Diamonds will face their fifth away game in a row when they make the trip into Buckinghamshire to face Newport Pagnell Town on Tuesday evening in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division.

The two sides met at Willen Road at the start of March 2014, when a spectacular free kick from Richard Bunting gave the Diamonds a 2-1 victory. The hosts had taken an early lead, but a Russ Dunkley header had made the scores level at the break – report here.

The two sides had met at the Dog & Duck in a midweek game at the start of December when the Diamonds also recorded a 2-1 victory in a tight game – report here.

Admission prices last season were Adults £5, Concessions £3 with U16′s free. Details of any parking recommendations will be added here when provided by the host club, along with any details of catering arrangements.

Our Opponents

Newport Pagnell Town FC was formed in 1963 as Newport Pagnell Wanderers as an alternative to the Aston Martin works team. They changed to their current name in 1972 as they moved to their Willen Road ground. They joined the UCL in 1973.

You can see more details on their history on their archived website here.

The Swans have had a mixed season so far, with a notable victory over Yaxley, but home defeats by Wellingborough Town and PNS. At the weekend they recorded a 7-1 victory over Long Buckby while the Diamonds were losing at Yaxley.

Their club colours are green and white hoops and the Swans are managed by Darren Lynch assisted by Daren Dykes and Ben Hill. Their website is here, and their twitter feed here.

Getting There

The Swans play at Willen Road, Newport Pagnell MK16 0DF. For directions for the 17 mile trip from the Dog & Duck see here.

The public transport option for the trip to Newport Pagnell would require connecting to Stagecoach Bus 40 in Bedford, or via a local bus in Milton Keynes, but with this being an evening game there is no return option.
