Oadby Town v AFC Rushden & Diamonds
AFC Rushden & Diamonds make a trip to Leicester on Saturday as they travel to face Oadby Town in their first away game of the new year.
Admission to the game is priced at £6 for adults, £4 for concessions, with £1 from those fees going to the Bodie Hodges Foundation (as agreed with the UCL). Details of any parking recommendations will be added here as provided by the host club.
In their previous home game the Poachers suffered a 6-3 defeat by Peterborough Northern Star, but had battled hard to lead the game at half-time and to be level at 3-3. In midweek they lost 3-2 at Long Buckby.
Our Opponents
Oadby Town joined the UCL in 2012-13 after they transferred from the East Midlands Counties League, narrowly missing out on promotion in their first campaign in Division One, before winning the title in the following season. They are based in the town of Oadby, to the south-east of Leicester. The Club was formed shortly before World War II, and they played in Leicestershire leagues until winning promotion to the Midland Alliance in 1999, but they dropped to the step 6 East Midlands Counties League for the 2011-12 season, narrowly missing out on promotion before their transfer to the UCL.
Since winning the UCL1 title they have undergone a number of changes, with few of last season’s side remaining at the club, and they are currently in the bottom half of the UCL Premier table.
The Poachers are now managed by Lee Harriman who returned to the club in October. Their home colours are red and white halved shirts with black shorts. Their club website is here, and their twitter feed is here.
The Diamonds recorded their first victory against Oadby earlier this season, with a 3-0 win at the Dog & Duck back in October – report here. They lost 5-1 at Wigston Road in the 2012-13 campaign.
