Peaks – A Massive Opportunity

Manager Andy Peaks spoke to www.afcdiamonds.com ahead of potentially the biggest match in the clubs history.

Peaks says his side are looking forward to the match against Evo Stick Northern Premier League Team Ashton United.

“It’s a massive opportunity for us progress, we said after the last round we wanted a home tie with all the benefits that brings. We can arrive as we do every home fixture and in familiar surroundings. The fans also have a massive role to help the team – when they get behind us it can make a real difference.”

Following the defeat to Basford Utd in the FA Trophy, the manager says the focus has been on this match.

“After the disappointment of last week’s loss,  we have trained twice this week and the players know how big this game is. We will hopefully have a couple of players back from injury.”

We have had Ashton watched twice and we know they are a very capable team. They will be a step up from anything we have faced so far this season, but as we showed against Cambridge City, on our day anything can happen in this competition, and we will be confident.”

Peaks also talked about his own FA cup experiences.

“We made the first round in 1995 and were drawn at home against Cardiff and that was a fantastic experience that I will never forget. That’s the sort of prize on offer to the winner on Saturday and we are going to do our very best that it can be us. This football club has had so many great days since it’s rebirth and a victory on Saturday would be up there with all of them”
