06/08/23: AFC Rushden & Diamonds are delighted to announce the signing of 20-year-old defender Daniel Tagoe ahead of the 2023/24 Northern Premier League Midlands Division campaign. The towering 6’ 5” central defender – who is also capable of playing in midfield – has caught the eye in the Club’s last three pre-season friendlies, having joined the group ahead of the Cogenhoe United match last month. He joins from Vanarama National League side Oxford City, for whom he represented their U23 team during the 2022/23 season. Manager Chris Nunn was pleased to add Daniel to the group as he became the latest player to put pen-to-paper for the Diamonds: “Obviously Hughesy (Ryan Hughes) getting injured is a bitter pill to swallow and the length of his expected absence dictated we needed to add to the group in that position. Daniel’s come in over the last few games and done really well. He’s fitted in with the boys which is a big thing for me and I think he’s got big potential. I think we’ve all seen he distributes the ball very well; he’s a physical presence which is something we’re going to need this year, but above all else he’s shown a real desire to be here and I really like that.”

Daniel will be available for selection for this weekend’s first league game of the season, at home to Sporting Khalsa on Saturday 12^th August.
