01/01/2023: AFC Rushden & Diamonds are thrilled to announce the signing of 19-year-old George Joyce from fellow Southern League Premier Central club Hitchin Town.
George, a right-back, was with National League side Boreham Wood until very recently, beginning the season on loan at Aylesbury United in the Southern League Division One Central before heading permanently to Hitchin Town shortly thereafter.
In what’s been a very busy day for our new Manager, Chris Nunn was delighted to get his latest signing over the line: “George featured in the National League for Boreham Wood last season and has a really good attitude and will to win. One of my former players – Cam Mawer – was Academy Manager at Boreham Wood when George was coming through there and has given him a glowing reference. It is clear that we are conceding too many goals and it’s an area of the pitch we need to strengthen. George gives us another option in that department and I think it’s a really good bit of business for the football club.”
Subject to league approval, George will be in the squad for Monday’s game against St. Ives Town.
13/03/23: George Joyce has been released.
