30/06/23: AFC Rushden & Diamonds are thrilled to announce the signing of 21-year-old goalkeeper George Rose from Vanarama National League South side Slough Town. George is a product of the MK Dons academy and whilst there spent time on loan at Crawley Green, Hullbridge Sports and AFC Dunstable. Upon his release from MK Dons in the summer of 2020, he joined Crawley Green permanently and impressed enough to be signed by Slough Town a year later. Diamonds’ Manager Chris Nunn brought George to Kempston Rovers last summer on loan from Slough, initially to fight for the number one jersey, however he became a fixture between the sticks throughout their season at Step 4. The 6’ 4” stopper picked up the Players’ Player of the Year award for the Walnut Boys last season and he’s someone Chris had identified a while ago as someone he’d like to bring to the Club: “George is dedicated and has a very calming influence. He’s young, he’s only going to get better and I was so impressed with his attitude last year at Kempston. I know he’ll buy into the environment we’re trying to create here. We all know that for the last 2 years we’ve had one of the best goalkeepers around and whilst I don’t want to put George under pressure to achieve what Dean Snedker has achieved here, I’ve no doubt that in the future George can reach those heights. I’m delighted he’s signing for us.” AFCRDTV caught up with George Rose who was thrilled to be joining the Diamonds: “I’m delighted to be here. When Chris got in touch with me it was a straightforward decision to come back and play under Chris again. I had a lot of enjoyment working with him at Kempston and I’m looking forward to pushing on now. I felt I was in great form at the end of last season so hopefully I can recapture that quickly this year. We’re moving into a tough league, a new league for me and a new challenge. Hopefully we can kick on this year and I can help push Rushden back up the leagues.”

30/12/23: We can confirm that Goalkeeper George Rose has signed dual registration forms to join Southern League Division One Central side Leighton Town. George has been the only ever-present in the Diamonds starting XI this season making 21 appearances, and we wish him all the best for the future.
