11/02/23: AFC Rushden & Diamonds are pleased to announce the signing of French goalkeeper Loris Marcimain on a dual-registration basis from Vanarama National League South side St. Albans City.
26-year-old Loris, who originates from Guadeloupe, learned his trade in the 5th tier of French football with AS Portet Carrefour Récébédou and AS Muret. After arriving in the UK in 2021, Loris spent time with FC Romania and Crawley Green before signing with St. Albans City in the summer of 2022, spending this season as their 2nd choice goalkeeper. Last month, Marcimain spent time with Hartley Wintney of the Southern League Premier Division South, also on a dual-registration basis.
Manager Chris Nunn moved quickly to secure his latest signing after Dean Snedker withdrew midway through training on Thursday with a back injury: “Losing your only senior goalkeeper – and captain – a day before a crucial run of games isn’t exactly the sort of scenario you dream about but it’s part and parcel of being the Manager of a football club and these things happen. I don’t think some of my contacts will have appreciated the wake-up calls yesterday but I’m really pleased we’ve been able to get Loris sorted ahead of today’s game. People I know and trust speak very highly of him and having been playing first team football until very recently he’ll be ready to go, as the rest of the team will be. We’re all excited for today’s game and look forward to seeing you all at Hayden Road this afternoon.”
03/03/23: Goalkeeper Loris Marcimain returned to St. Albans City ahead of last Saturday’s fixture against Nuneaton Borough, following the return to fitness of Dean Snedker. Loris made quite the impact at the Club during his short 3-game spell and remains dual-registered with the Club, should his services be required again this season. We thank Loris for his efforts at the Diamonds.
