13/01/23: AFC Rushden & Diamonds are excited to announce the signing of 20-year-old Australian defender Luca Doorbar-Baptist on a dual-registration basis from Vanarama National League North side Peterborough Sports.

A product of the Nottingham Forest academy after spending his formative years in his home country, Luca left the City Ground in the summer and signed for Sports, making appearances at Step 2 this season. Luca spent last month on dual registration with Cambridge City in the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands and now becomes the 8^th signing of the Chris Nunn era at AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

Chris was keen to add competition for places in the defensive areas and was pleased to get his latest signing over the line: “Firstly I’d like to thank Jimmy Dean at Peterborough Sports for his help with this one. Luca is an excellent footballer as you can tell by his background. Once I became aware of his availability I acted quickly to bring him in and he’s another that I’m sure will really add to the group and help us in our great escape!”

03/03/23: Luca Doorbar-Baptist has informed the Club that he is going to be taking a break from football and will no longer be part of the squad going forward. Luca joined the Club in January on a dual-registration basis from Peterborough Sports and made 4 appearances for the Diamonds. We wish Luca well for the future.
