Pre-Game Squad Update – Harrowby United (A)

Mark Starmer gave an update prior to Saturday’s game at Harrowby United.

He reported that the squad have trained well this week, and will travel to Harrowby in a confident mood, trying to build on the start they have had to the season. Although they only got a point at Wootton Blue Cross last weekend it was felt that the performance deserved better. Mark made a special mention of the Diamonds fans, thanking them for the support at Wootton which they all thought was fantastic.

The squad is near a full complement for the game, with only Alex Deakin affected by injury as he recovers from his operation. Ash Foulger will return to the squad after playing the full 90 minutes for Earls Barton last weekend, and although they would have welcomed him for another game he wanted to travel with the AFC R&D squad to Harrowby.

Mark also commented on the news that midfielder Jamie Gilsenan has joined the club from Thrapston Town, having faced the Diamonds a fortnight ago, confirming that he will be involved on Saturday. Mark said that he was impressed in what he saw when we played them, and thought he would bring something different to the midfield. He would like to thank Ian at Thrapston for allowing this to happen this week.

Jamie is a 36-year-old midfielder with extensive UCL experience playing for Desborough Town and Stewarts and Lloyds, as well having played at Southern League level for Corby Town and Stamford.
