Pre-Game Squad Update – Rothwell Corinthians (A)

AFC Rushden & Diamonds manager Mark Starmer gave afcdiamonds.com an update on squad matters ahead of Saturday’s game at Rothwell Corinthians.

Although Aynsley McDonald, Joe Merrill and Louis Smith needed treatment following Tuesday’s game, and were rested from Thursday night’s training, they are expected to be available for Saturday’s game. Similarly Sam Brown has recovered from the knock that kept him out of Tuesday’s squad, and should also be available.

Jake Newman has started the holiday that was planned before he joined the club (and which was known of in advance) so will not be available, and it will be several weeks before Elliott Dent or Alex Deakin are able to resume training.

Mark has been including some of the Under18s with the first team training sessions in case he needs to include them in the first team at any point. Zach Farden sampled the first-team environment at Tuesday’s game, and both Ben Roach and Zak Moon would have also joined him had they been available.

Thursday night’s Training Session was only a light one following the game on Tuesday, but morale and confidence in the squad are still high, so everyone is looking forward to the game at Rothwell on Saturday.

In other squad news, James Allcock has completed a move to Cogenhoe United, and all at AFC Rushden & Diamonds wish him well at his new club.
