AFC Rushden & Diamonds manager Mark Starmer gave a squad update prior to the FA Carlsberg Vase game on Saturday, when the Diamonds travel to face UCL Premier side Yaxley.
Mark advised that Diamonds striker Alfie Taylor was confirmed to have a broken collarbone when he revisited hospital, after picking up the injury last weekend. With Alfie having scored 11 goals this season, including hitting the net in every Diamonds league game, Mark commented that losing him for between six and eight weeks is obviously a big blow.
Following the record crowd at the game last weekend everyone at the club has been buzzing at training this week, and there is also good news that Alex Deakin is now back in full training, and may feature in the game at Leading Drove this weekend. Elliot Dent will continue to be absent, and there is also a concern with Ashley Foulger due to illness.
Mark added that everyone at the club is looking forward to the game at Yaxley, and is positive about the game. With Peterborough United fans offered half-price admission, on production of a Posh Scarf, another sizeable crowd is possible – see here for the match preview.
