Popular AFC Rushden & Diamonds goalkeeper Quincy Shorunmu has signed for Northampton Sileby Rangers.
Quincy was the first player named on an AFC Rushden & Diamonds teamsheet back on 18th August 2012, and he went on to start in 30 games in Diamonds inaugural season, plus a cameo substitute appearance in the final game at Northampton Spencer. A long-standing shoulder injury and the consequent recovery from surgery have meant his chances for the Diamonds since that season have been limited, but in total he appeared 34 times for the club.
Few who were present will forget his outstanding performance at Sileby Rangers when the Diamonds won 1-0 there during that promotion winning season.
Commenting on the move, AFC Rushden & Diamonds Manager Andy Peaks noted “Quincy has been a great keeper for the club, but his chances have been limited this year due to injuries and holidays. Matt Finlay has been in great form, and therefore it makes sense for Quincy to go and get some games at Sileby. He’s a great lad and I had him with me at Northampton Spencer so I was more than happy for him to go and get some first team game time.”
The club would like to thank Quincy for his contribution during the club’s formative seasons and we wish him all the best.
