RDFC Legend – Garry Butterworth

An RDFC icon.

Garry Butterworth made 371 glorious appearances between 1994-2002 – a record across both RDFC and AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

104 of them were consecutive, which is also a record. Garry quickly established himself as a leader and midfield General, captaining the Diamonds to the Beazer Homes Premier Division title in 1996.

He was part of the team that won promotion to the Football League in 2001, and in his final appearance at Nene Park for the Club, he scored a stoppage time screamer against Rochdale in the Division Three play-off Semi Final.

The 1996/97 & 1999/2000 Players’ Player and 1994/95 & 1996/97 Supporters’ Player of the Year Garry Butterworth will be lacing up his boots once again on Sunday, 30th July.
