Rothwell Corinthians v AFC Rushden & Diamonds
Saturday 22nd September 2012 – 3:00pm
ChromaSport and Trophies United Counties League Division One
Sergeants Lawn, Desborough Road, Rothwell, Northants NN14 6JQ
After the two cup games at the Dog and Duck, the Diamonds return to league action with yet another away league game at the weekend when they travel north to face Rothwell Corinthians in the ChromaSport and Trophies United Counties League Division One on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
Rothwell Corinthians have advised us that as well as the clubhouse within the ground, there will be additional catering (barbeques) set up in the corner of the ground, and additional hot drink outlets to alleviate any busy periods at half time etc.
Car Parking is in the field adjacent to the ground, and Diamonds fans should note that parking on the path opposite the ground will lead to a parking ticket being issued!
Admission prices are £5 adults and £2.50 Concessions. Programmes are priced at £1.
Our Opponents
Rothwell Corinthians FC were founded in 1934, and were promoted to the Premier Division of the United Counties league for the 2008-09 season where they stayed for three seasons before dropping back down to Division One at the end of 2010-11.
The Corinths club website is here. They are currently managed by Matt Clarke, They play in Red and Black and are still unbeaten in the league, having beaten Potton and Buckingham and drawn with Rushden & Higham.
Some AFC R&D fans will have visited Sergeants Lawn last season with the U18 side, particularly in the Northants FA Cup semi-final game in February when current first team squad member Louis Smith gave the young Diamonds an extra-time victory. They are also one of the UCL1 teams who some AFC Diamonds fans may have seen facing R&DFC in the NFA Hillier Senior Cup, as back in 2008 a crowd of 160 at Nene Park saw a Lee Phillips goal decide the game.
