Rushden & Higham United v AFC Rushden & Diamonds
AFC Rushden & Diamonds will kick off their pre-season campaign with the short trip to Hayden Road to face Rushden & Higham United in the Chris Ruff Memorial Cup. This will be the fourth time the teams have competed for the cup, which has been presented in memory of the ex-R&HUFC Club Secretary.
There is a club bar and refreshments will also be available.

Our Opponents
Rushden & Higham United FC was founded in 2007 with the merger of Higham Town FC and Rushden Rangers. Higham Town history goes back to 1875, but in 2007 they merged with Rushden Rangers, moving to Hayden Road and upgrading the ground for UCL level football.
The Lankies club website is here with the main R&H-related twitter feed is here. They have a new management team in place for this season, with the team jointly managed by Ben Lord and Wayne Abbott. They play in Orange and Black.
The two teams met in competitive games in the 2012-13 season. They first met at Hayden Road at the start of October 2012, when a UCL Division One record crowd saw the Diamonds seal a 4-0 victory, as goals from Alfie Taylor and Joe Merrill gave the Diamonds a two-goal lead at the break, then a third from Jack Wisniewski followed by an own goal secured the win report here. In the return game at the Dog & Duck in January 2013 an early Alfie Taylor goal gave the Diamonds a narrow victory – report here.
