Smith makes UCL debut

AFC Rushden & Diamonds are pleased to announce that midfielder Louis Smith has signed UCL terms for Rothwell Town, in a bid to gain some experience of senior football. Smith made his debut for the Bones as a substitute in their 3-0 defeat to Northampton ON Chenecks on Saturday.

As one of the older members of the current AFC R&D squad, Smith will not be eligible for the Youth Team next season, so the club are keen for him to experience the more physical nature of senior football in preparation for his hopeful progression into our senior side next season. Rothwell are next in UCL action on Saturday 28th January, away to Wootton Blue Cross, where Smith will hopefully feature again.

Striker Lewi Williams has also signed for Rothwell Town, but work commitments have prevented him from appearing for them so far.

Both players will still be eligible to play for AFC Rushden & Diamonds in the Northants Senior Youth League for the remainder of this season.
