Match Report

Match re-arranged from 9th November.

Diamonds made it back-to-back home wins with a 3-1 victory over Lowestoft Town on Tuesday evening.

Diamonds were unchanged from Saturday’s win over Redditch and started brightly taking the lead on 18 minutes. Fernando Bell-Toxtle played in Ty Deacon at the end of a great run and the striker finished coolly at the second attempt. Ty Deacon added a second on 32 minutes finishing Bell-Toxtle’s squared ball before Lowestoft earned a penalty converted by Louis McIntosh for 2-1 Diamonds at half-time.

Lowestoft pushed men forward early in the second half but struggled to create chances against Diamonds resolute defence. Diamonds threatened throughout the second half and finally got a third through Nathan Tshikuna’s 18 yard strike on 65 minutes. Diamonds ran out 3-1 winners to make it 4 wins from 5 and 8th place in the league before an enforced break before Hitchin away on 4th December.

Preview

Diamonds look for back-to-back home wins for the first time this season as they take on Lowestoft Town at Hayden Road on Tuesday evening.

Recent Form

Nathan Tshikuna’s hooked finish in the first half earned Diamonds the points on Saturday along with a well earned clean sheet for the second home game in a row. 3 wins from 4 have Diamonds in 10th place now with 22 points from 18 games.

Lowestoft were goalless on their travels for the 5th game on the trot on Saturday as they went down 3-0 at Banbury. No wins in 5 have them down in 18th place, just two points off the bottom but only 4 points off 11th in a congested bottom half of the table.

Previous Meetings

Diamonds are unbeaten in contests against Lowestoft in Southern Football League action. A pair of 1-1 draws in 2018/2019 were earned thanks to Ben Farrell penalties. The aborted season 2019/2020 saw just the Hayden Road game played but it saw a 3-0 Diamonds win thanks to Nabil Shariff, Jordan MacLeod and Matt Slinn.

Lowestoft Town

Lowestoft came from a merger of sides in 1887 playing in Norfolk leagues until another merger in 1935 saw them into the Eastern Counties League. They played in the Isthmian League and made it to the National League North before relegation and allocation to the Southern League Premier Central division.

The Game

The return of Liam Dolman alongside Alex Collard, Patrick Casey and Ryan Hughes in front of Dean Snedker made Diamonds very solid on Saturday. The form of Nathan Tshikuna and Fernando Bell-Toxtle in midfield supporting Ravi Shamsi, Ben Diamond, Connor Furlong, Ty Deacon up front made Diamonds more dynamic in the middle and final third and they will hope to repeat that form on Tuesday night.

Radio Diamonds will be back of course with in match Twitter updates and post game interviews and match report will bring you all the action.

Enjoy the game.
