St Neots Town U18 4 AFC Rushden & Diamonds U18 1

Diamonds U18s second pre-season friendly ended in a 4-1 defeat against Ridgeons Youth League side St.Neots Town. A lack of defensive cover meant that manager Mark Walsh had to shuffle players to fill in the gaps at the back. Despite being under pressure from the start, Mason Thomas had a fierce shot saved on 12 minutes, but St.Neots finally went in front on 25 minutes with a 20 yard effort which beat the keeper.

Despite another five really good chances for the home side, Diamonds went into the break just the one goal adrift, and within a minute of the restart, Mason Thomas slotted the ball into an empty net after Jake Reynolds had intercepted a back pass, leaving the keeper stranded.

St.Neots showed their superiority however, and went in front again on 65 minutes with a close range shot, before they added further goals on 70 and 77 minutes to seal the win.
