Stewarding Course Opportunity

Those AFC Rushden & Diamonds fans who are interested in helping the club out with Matchday stewarding duties are invited to attend the course detailed below. The course is free to attend, and results in a stewarding qualification. Those interested should email Chas Rust – chas@afcdiamonds.com for more details.

The course starts with 4 classroom sessions, 7 -9pm on 11, 18 & 25 June and 2 July followed by observation sessions during the course of the season.

This qualification is aimed at anyone working, or wishing to work, as a safety steward at live spectator events, including a variety of sporting or musical events. The qualification provides an assessment of knowledge and competence across the following areas:

  • controlling the entry, exit and movement of people at spectator events
  • monitoring spectators and dealing with crowd problems
  • supporting the work of the team and organisation
  • helping to manage conflict
  • dealing with accidents and emergencies

The qualification also provides a mandatory component of the Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Spectator Safety and meets the requirements laid out in the Football Licensing Authority’s Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (known as the Green Guide), along with other related safety guides.

The Course will be held at the Dog & Duck
