Stewarts & Lloyds Corby v AFC Rushden & Diamonds
AFC Rushden & Diamonds will bring the 2013-14 season to a close with their first trip to Occupation Road, Corby to face Stewarts & Lloyds Corby on Saturday. The two sides met at the Dog & Duck in a midweek game at the end of November when the Diamonds recorded a 3-0 victory – report here.
The Diamonds’ season has been memorable for the side achieving the targets that were set – a top-6 finish and good cup runs in the FA Cup and FA Vase – and so they will be able to celebrate these achievements with their travelling fans on Saturday.
Details of admission prices and any parking recommendations will be added here when provided by the host club, along with any details of catering arrangements.
Our Opponents
Stewarts & Lloyds Corby FC was formed in 1935 as the works team of Stewarts & Lloyds Iron & Steel Company, playing in the United Counties League as the premier team in Corby. The club was divided in 1948, during the formation of Corby Town FC, and it became an amateur club in the Kettering Amateur League, before joining the UCL again in 1957. After a few ups and downs they won the Premier Division title in 2008-09.
Their club website is here but they do not appear to have an active Twitter feed. Their home colours are white and black. For the first part of the season they were managed by Kevin Byrne, but he left the role during the Christmas period. He was replaced by Sean Mason for two months, and with no candidates emerging for the vacancy, chairman John Davies and committee man Kevin King have been running the senior side since March.
