To kick off the 2012/13 football season, a new community fundraising initiative has been launched by local SUBWAY® Stores in a Northamptonshire-wide initiative to support local youth football.
Before any physical activity such as sport, nourishment is important. So it’s perhaps only natural that Rushden’s Washbrook Road SUBWAY® Store will be supporting the AFC Rushden and Diamonds football team by contributing 10p every time they sell from their range of selected Subs.
All the money raised will help finance budding young footballers in any way the AFC Rushden and Diamonds football team needs support.
As a local business, it gives every SUBWAY® franchisee the chance to give something back to the community they serve. Dipak Patel, owner of the Washbrook Road SUBWAY® Store, is delighted to be supporting AFC Rushden and Diamonds in this way until the end of the season.
“Sport plays an essential part in our community and we hope to help these young players get the things they need with everyone’s support.” Dipak went on to say: “Whatever we raise will go straight to the club, so the more support we get, the better it is for the kids.”
AFC Rushden & Diamonds are equally enthusiastic, club vice Chairman, Jon Ward, said: “we are delighted that the Washbrook Road Subway store in Rushden will be donating money to our community club. We shall be using the funds to purchase brand new footballs and training equipment across all of our community football teams. We are a community club and every single one of our youth teams will really benefit from the support the Rushden community gives us.
