AFC Rushden & Diamonds would like to say sincere congratulations to Scott (Biffa) Carlin who has recently passed the FA’s Level 2 Coaching course. Biff will be coaching the Academy U12s this season as well as continuing his role within Andy Peaks’ coaching team.
The course, which runs over 75 hours, is a nationally recognised qualification which provides candidates who have an ongoing involvement in football, with the opportunity to gain knowledge of how to effectively plan, deliver and evaluate coaching sessions. It includes both theory and practical elements to introduce a number of key aspects related to the role of a football coach in working with youth players. These are delivered via home based study tasks and Tutor delivered workshops.
Having completed the course, a very tired Biff said “It was hard work but very rewarding. Level 2 is a big step up from Level 1 and makes you think a lot more about how you coach individuals and as a team; making you look at your coaching style. It’s been a massive eye-opener and something that will help me with the first team and my U12 Academy squad in the coming season.”
Chairman Ralph Burditt said “We are very pleased that Scott continues to demonstrate his commitment to AFC Rushden & Diamonds by taking on additional responsibilities within Club. We are looking forward to working with him again this season and wish him well with his U12 Academy squad and the first team and, of course, pass on our congratulations to him on successfully completing this course.”
