Our Opponents

Thrapston Town FC was formed in 1960 as Thrapston Venturas, playing in the Kettering Amateur League until 1978 when they joined the UCL. The club changed its name to Thrapston Town in 1995, and won promotion to the UCL Premier in 2011, but were relegated at the end of last season after just one campaign in the top flight.

Current Diamonds players who have played for Thrapston include Ben Morgan, Jack Wisniewski and Deven Ellwood. The two teams met in the historic first ever league games for AFC Rushden & Diamonds on August 18th 2012 – report here.

The club website is here. They are currently managed by Ian Walker . Their club colours are blue shirts and shorts.

Getting There

For directions for the 13 mile trip from the Dog and Duck to Chancery Lane, Thrapston NN14 4JL see here. Parking is less of an issue than first thought, as Thrapston have now advised they plan to use their training area in the first instance, and direct any overflow to the nearby Sailing Club down Meadow Lane to the right of the pitch. There is also some parking in the town itself, such as near the Co-op or at the Bullring area to the right as you enter Chancery Lane from the High St, but please check restrictions before parking.

The ground is shared with a cricket pitch, so spectator access is only possible on three sides. Access to the ground is on the other side of the playing field next to Chancery Lane, usually via an entrance between the cricket pavilion and the clubhouse.

Those considering using Public Transport to avoid parking issues should consider the X46 and X47 buses which together provide a half-hourly service to Thrapston from Wellingborough, Irchester, Rushden, Higham Ferrers and Stanwick. They stop in Thrapston High Street, near the library, a short walk down Chancery Lane to the ground. See here for point-to-point directions, or see here for the timetable or here for a routemap.
