At the United Counties League AGM last night, the draw was made for the early rounds of the League Knockout Cup and it seems that the draw gods are certainly fans of a local derby! AFC Rushden & Diamonds were drawn at home in the Preliminary Round of the competition against London Road neighbours Wellingborough Whitworths FC. The winners of this game will then face a first round tie away at AFC R&D’s groundshare hosts Wellingborough Town FC. The odds of these ties being drawn were over 5000 to 1 and Diamonds fans will certainly be looking forward to what should be an exciting game against Whitworths.
