Our Opponents

Wellingborough Town FC were originally formed in 1867, and had a proud history being the sixth oldest in the country, although the current club was launched in 2004, two years after the original club had disbanded. The Doughboys had an impressive end to last season in the league, and after a mixed start to this campaign they hit form and have climbed to a strong position in the league, helped by the goals of top scorer Jason Turner. Earlier this month they became the first team to reach the quarter final of the UCL KO Cup.

Phil Neal, of Liverpool and England fame, started his career with the club, and AFC Rushden & Diamonds Assistant Manager Andy Peaks played at the Dog & Duck during the 2006/07 season. Jack Wisniewski joined the Doughboys earlier this season, and Jason Taylor and Nat Liburd will be familiar to Diamonds fans.

Their club colours are yellow and blue, and they are managed by Craig Adams. The Doughboys club website is here and their Twitter feed here.
