Will Glennon Departure

The Club can confirm this evening that Will Glennon has opted to leave the Club to pursue an opportunity at a higher level.

Will joined the Diamonds back in March and contributed greatly to our positive form during the final months of last season. The AFC Rushden & Diamonds Academy graduate made 18 appearances since rejoining the Club from Bugbrooke St. Michaels, scoring twice.

Manager Chris Nunn commented on Will’s departure: “There’s been a lot of interest in Will, both during this season and in the summer. We’ve been in constant communication over the past week or so and I’ve done my best to convince him to remain with us, but the opportunity to take a step up is one he didn’t feel he could turn down. He goes with our best wishes, he’s a great lad and I’ve enjoyed working with him. He knows the door is open for him here if things don’t work out.”

Chris also wanted to provide an update to supporters regarding potential incoming movement over the coming days: “We’ve had an extremely busy day today talking to various players and firm offers have been made to a number of identified targets. Despite results I don’t think we need to rip up what we’ve got and start again because as I’ve said many times, the results aren’t reflecting our performances. Having said that, it’s clear we need to add to the group in a handful of key areas and I’ll be working hard to get some business done ahead of this weekend’s match at home to Coleshill Town. Please stick with us as you have been doing and create an atmosphere like you did against Hinckley last week. We really appreciate your continued support.”
